“Be the change you wish to see in the world”

These 10 little words so delicate yet extremely profound were spoken by the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi, the man who inspired people worldwide by living the simple nonviolent life he preached, once said,” you must be the change you wish to see in the world”. We now see this simple quote almost everywhere, be it churches, political rallies, workshop posters and yoga centers. But what do these words actually convey?
You want to save the world, go save it, you want to save lives, preach good, go do it. But what’s important is to start taking solid steps towards what you want. A wise man once said, “Actions speak louder than words”, mere thoughts of wisdom and castles of desires are never going to get you anywhere. Seeing that your objectives take form will require much of your effort of wanting choosing, and committing your actions to stand for what is right. It’s these tiny steps by all of us that will help transform the world to a greater good. A change can happen if and only if YOU want to see it happen. The quote, “if it’s to be, it’s up to me” explains it all. Nothing can happen if you don’t start executing what you believe. Every day I may say to myself, “today I will help the lady across the street carry her bags because she lives all alone or talk to the silent kid in school that no one acknowledges “but these will just remain mere words if I don’t act upon it, if I don’t put in the effort to actually implement it. No one will work on the change you want to see in the world if you yourself don’t work on it.Start committing to what you believe in, start amending and start planning towards YOUR CHANGE.
