A visit to Hindustan Times press!

On 13 April 2017, we ( Mass media students) went to Hindustan Times's printing press. It was a nice learning experience for us and got a clear cut idea regarding how the newspapers are printed on the daily basis in these huge printing press.
The Hindustan Times's printing press is located at Airoli, Navi Mumbai. This unit serves the entire Mumbai region and also to the near by areas. The press comprises of huge machines which are made in Germany, put to work by the Labour working here. In our visit to the press we got to know that the newspapers are made with help of recycled paper and the pictures which are seen on the newspapers comprise of a few primary colors which are cyan, magenta, yellow and black. These four colors are applied on four different metal plates/ sheets for the same page of the newspaper which is later merged and we get the beautiful images on the newspaper. Talking about the colors one the employee in the press also said that "the common man plays holi only once a year but they play on a regular basis." HT cares a lot about their employees safety and with regards to this the press had different signs put up all around.
With that said, it was a great experience being their in the Hindustan Times's printing press and hope the school organises more such fun and learning field trips more often.
Thank you for reading! See you again....
