Trip to Hindustan times printing press
A trip to
Hindustan Times printing press, Airoli was organised by Bal Bharati Public
School, Kharghar for the students of class 12th mass media studies on 13th
April 2017.
As soon as
we reached the printing press, we had some snacks as we directly visited the
press directly after school hours. After that a short description was given
about how 4 basic colours cyan, magenta, yellow and black which were used to
create different colours for newspaper and how various newspapers were printed
according to the templates on aluminium sheets with the base colour.
The press
comprises of huge machines which are made in Germany, put to work by the Labour
working there. In our visit to the press we got to know that the newspapers are
made with help of recycled paper. The workers also told us that before the newspaper
is printed a soft copy is prepared and various places for advertisements are allotted
as per the payment in the various pages of the newspaper. This work is carried
out by the editing team.
We were then
shown how the newspapers are printed and they go through different stages of
printing through a conveyer belt which was described as a huge snake by the
worker guiding us.
The press
starts at 12 AM at night. At the last stage we were shown that the packaging
and transporting process and the whole process was done overnight from preparing
of template to distribution so every house in the morning has a newspaper to be
read, this is done 365 days a year.
It was a fun
and informational trip, hope that the trips continue to be this way and was a
wonderful experience to see the making of newspapers from the inside.
thanks for the view
