A Change In Thought

Diwali is the one festival in India which is celebrated by all irrespective of caste, creed and religion. It is celebrated to acknowledge the victory of good over evil. But with the changing time the style of celebrating Diwali has also changed drastically.

Now Diwali celebrations mean electric illumination and bursting noisy fire crackers. This change in the celebration style has imposed many negative effects on the environment such as excessive air, soil and noice pollution, excessive power consumption and consumerism (excess consumption means excess use of raw material.

With increase in the awareness about environmental pollution amongst the public, eco-friendly Diwali was quite popular amongst the few who understand the need for environment protection. I personally feel bursting crackers is like burning your money. I along with few friends of mine thought instead of wasting money on crackers it can be used for contributing towards the welfare of the society and other poor people who are unable to celebrate the festival. Also we can have a cracker show for 2 hour or so in a common place where people can enjoy the crackers, instead of each doing at their home in a small way and making the whole city dusty with paper.
